Meet our newest nurse practitioner in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin.

Most of the time our doctors and women’s health team spend with patients involves listening and getting to know them, but relationships work both ways. To help you learn more about us, we’ll be posting a series of provider spotlight articles in the coming months to help you see the stories behind their smiling faces. Natalie Ross is an experienced nurse practitioner at Beaver Dam Women’s Health in Beaver Dam, WI.

Our September spotlight is on Natalie Ross, DNP, FNP-BC, APNP. She is a nurse practitioner and the newest member of the BDWH team. We learned the following facts about her during a recent interview.

  1. She’s highly qualified in healthcare

While Natalie is new to Beaver Dam Women’s Health, she has accomplished much at a young age. She earned her Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) and has worked as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) for the past year. She was a Registered Nurse (RN) for six years prior and worked as a fitness professional for several years before that.

  2. She’s a proud local and loves giving back to the community

Natalie grew up in Beaver Dam and is proud to serve her home town. “I have always cared deeply about this community, and I feel lucky to be able to give back.”

As early as she can remember, she wanted to be a doctor when she grew up. Helping people has always been her focus. “My goal is to positively impact the health of Beaver Dam residents and our clinic patients.”

  3. Family is important to her, but so is fun

Natalie and her husband have a baby at home, and like any career-focused family, finding the right work-life balance can be difficult. Work is important, but she understands the importance of enjoying life, and makes time to have fun. She is an avid runner and says her secret talent is doing the “worm” dance. She enjoys chocolate and ice cream, but most of all she treasures time spent with her loved ones and their dog, Zoey.

  4. She believes all patients deserve patience

While many health providers are too busy to truly listen to their patients, Natalie believes letting women know they are heard is the key to their comfort and wellbeing.

“My favorite part of my job is talking with women during their appointments, and listening to what has brought them into the clinic and offering suggestions for how we can work together to meet their needs. I like to let them guide the conversation and address their main concerns. I also explain any exam they might be undergoing, what I will be doing, and what they can expect.”

  5. She looks forward to being part of the future of women’s healthcare

Natalie sees the big picture when it comes healthcare and wellness. Her education and experience help her anticipate how the health needs of women will change in the future, and is glad to be working for a clinic who is focused on meeting those needs.

“With the Baby Boomers aging, I think there will be more focus on the care of post-menopausal women. We, as healthcare providers, need to be flexible and open to new treatment ideas. That’s why I’m proud that BDWH is committed to staying at the forefront of the latest women’s health advancements that allow patients to live the life they want.”

  6. When it comes to healthcare, she believes in being proactive

“Prevention is key,” she feels. “Our healthcare system is too reactive—too focused on treating people once they are sick. More time and resources should be placed on efforts to be proactive in keeping people healthy!"

Focusing on work-life balance, taking the time to listen to patients, embracing new advances in health, and promoting wellness through preventive care—all reasons we’re proud to have Natalie as a part of our women’s health team.
